mgmgmgmg (selected works, 2019~)

mgmgmgmg (AKA mg, est. 2019) is a collective of artists largely driven by our shared interest in alternative cosmology, eschewed iconography and experimental lorecraft. the group is interested in constructing stories that endures against broad stretches of time, medium, location, environment and other contingencies. challenging the individualism of the author, our motivations are improvised and our commitments are variable. mgmgmgmg’s artistic and theoretical interests concern sentience and the aesthetic conditions of technocapital, systems of control – both epistemic and material – and practices that chart lines of flight toward the emancipatory. mg outcomes often involve live performance, improvisation and written work.

mgmgmgmg has performed and exhibited across Boorloo/Perth, Walyalup/Fremantle, Taipei (Taiwan) and online. Members have included Chandler Abrahams, Paul Boyé and Levi McLean, Vladimir Todorovic, Alexander Jones, Jimi DePriest, Ella Valentine, Valentina Satori, Nate Wood and Samuel Beilby.

Inwardly, there is a gristly pulsation; a symbiosis of pure technic, jitters, bursting from the seems. Inwardly, this can be excavated. Inwardly, we can descend into this relation, grapple and propel outwardly, stretching and amplifying a brooding cave. There are a number of (non)entities who appear from (a) time to (a)time. It has always been unclear as to their domains; their dispositions conjured by experiments in the material. We perform a series of improvised methodologies in the name of MG; constituted by experiments in sound, movement, and textual practice, diminution seeks to diagram the intensities of these cosmic figures, as to allow their incomprehensibility to rest momentarily, to find momentary materiality. These experiments constitute an attempt to
draw the outside in: anthropomorphised and diminished.
